BPT`s Floating Normally Unattended Installation (NUI) receives Acceptance in Principle (AiP) from Ll

BPT’s floating unattended offshore installation – dubbed a “Floating NUI”, has received Acceptance in Principle (AiP) from Lloyds Register, indicating that the concept has been examined for compliance with the LR Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Offshore Units and is now ready to start engineering for project specific applications.

BPT’s patented proprietary design, is a compact single column offshore facility, designed and equipped specifically for unmanned operations. The unit’s low OPEX and low CAPEX deliver optimised lifecycle costs for a range of offshore developments. BPT has developed Floating NUI into several configurations including:

  • Utility buoys powered using renewable sources, that can replace subsea umbilicals for well control and management.

  • Normally unattended production units.

  • Offshore substation units for use in offshore wind farms and for power import/export to oil and gas infrastructure.

This Class Society AiP represents a significant stride forward in the development of the Floating NUI, providing clients with confidence that the design is sufficiently mature for near term offshore energy projects. Buoyant Production Technologies is a wholly owned subsidiary of Crondall Energy, which has been set up to develop and commercialise a number of floating production technologies created by Crondall Energy.
