As momentum grows behind small pools development, the OGTC and Crondall Energy are pioneering a project to design and demonstrate the technology necessary to realise a low-cost, flexible and normally unmanned installation. Wireline caught up with them to learn more about the 'Facility of the Future'. Read more here: https://cld.bz/HYtQ21r/24/

Kicked off during June 2018, Facility of the Future is a collaborative study, led by Buoyant Production Technologies Ltd. on behalf of The Oil and Gas Technology Centre.

The goal of the study is to mature an understanding of how a Floating NUI can be utilised in the UKCS to enable the development of marginal and stranded fields.

To date we have completed non field specific pre-FEED engineering on a Floating NUI production buoy, demonstrating the technical feasibility and lifecycle cost benefits of this development approach and maturing the technology ready for field-specific studies.

The study has been supported by Total E&P, Premier Oil, Siemens, BW Offshore, Wartsila, Lloyds Register, Ampelmann, Subsea7 & DNV GL.
